Rezzed 2015 with BAFTA Inside Games Arcade exhibition

Eurogamer’s Rezzed was held in London from the 12th to the 14th March, and thanks to BAFTA – Smash Hit Plunder was able to be shown at the event! We had nearly 700 people play, with both our Gear VRs on the go.

As BAFTA announced;
“We’re proud to announce the games selected for exhibition at the BAFTA Inside Games Arcade. From hundreds of entries, our curation panel selected these games because they represent the vibrancy and creative energy of development in the UK today. All of them will be playable at EGX Rezzed – come and see this exciting range of British games and meet the developers behind them!”

We were working on the demo for Rezzed since South West VR. Our aim was to get a solid build where we could test out our new comfort features, a new dungeon layout, and scavenger hunt mode.

The comfort features were a fantastic success! On older builds we had people feel comfortable when moving at times, or seemed to wobble when their body tried to compensate for expected G-forces they didn’t get. On this latest build we had a new walk style for people that are sensitive to being in VR, and with that on – everyone that played was comfortable with playing!

The only issue which is out of our hands at events is the noise level around the players. We find that some players felt disorientated after completing the demo. This is because they can hear their friends and noises around them, and their brain is trying to position the noise but of course cannot. We only had the one set of headphones, so maybe we need to acquire another set.

We did discover that for our return users, the second dungeon we had was a little too large to be able to get around in the same time limit that was set for The Blacksmiths Forge. We’ll have to fix this for future expo tests.

As it was a major event we decorated our table and dressed up – which leads to some great photos. We’ll be uploading these to our Events page soon.

We can’t thank BAFTA enough for their help and support and giving us the opportunity! And a bit shout our to our dear friends that came along and supported us, and covered for us. Most of all, thanks to everyone that played – it gave us some valuable insight to help improve the game.
